I'm Holly McDonald, the Preschool Director at the Washington County Family YMCA. With a passion for social work and over 25 years of experience, I feel truly privileged to help guide and inspire our youngest learners each day. I'm dedicated to creating an environment where children not only learn but also feel loved and valued.
At the YMCA, I believe in fostering a space where curiosity is celebrated, creativity is nurtured, and every child feels empowered to explore the world around them. I work closely with our dedicated team of teachers to design engaging, hands-on experiences that support both cognitive and social development, giving children the tools they need for a bright future.
When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me spending time with my husband and 3 sons, gardening, cooking or reading. I am committed to creating a supportive and welcoming community for both children and families, and I am proud to be part of the YMCA's mission to build a stronger, healthier future for all.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s early learning journey!

Gina was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, where she developed a strong sense of dedication and hard work early on. As a young adolescent, she spent her time playing basketball, experimenting with various art mediums, and volunteering at many different organizations, which helped shape her commitment to community and service.
After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 2012, she continued her academic journey at Bellarmine University, earning a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a minor in Art and Ceramics in 2017. Throughout her college years, Gina balanced her studies with a strong commitment to her work in Bellarmine's maintenance and housekeeping departments. "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bellarmine! I am so blessed to have received an incredible education, and I got the work experience I needed to take me further in life, which, ultimately, led me to the Y."
Her experiences in both her academic and professional life have shaped her into a well-rounded and dedicated individual, with a passion for being involved in her community. “Which is why the Washington County Family YMCA is a great fit for me! My family and I moved to Salem in 2021, and I really wanted to use my talents and work experience to play a role here, no matter how big or small.”
